C likes to play in boxes and so I put it in her play area for her to do whatever it is she wants to do with it. Now this box is pretty big in comparison to other boxes that we have gotten in the mail.

Now she was playing in the box all happy-like and just fine when something compelled me to turn it into a fort (if you will) or something like that. What the hell was I thinking? It became a HUGE undertaking and I couldn’t stop once I started. I spent Cs entire nap time digging through my Rubbermaid totes of “teacher stuff” trying to find things to make the box snazzy. When C woke up she was determined to be my helper and I realized a very important thing: I don’t own Crayola makers (or any markers, but namely Crayola- brand of choice). WHAT KIND OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHER DOESN’T HAVE MARKERS AT HOME?! Oh yeah, me.
Anyway, I cut holes in the side. Initially, I was thinking they could be windows, then after I cut them way too large- I decided not so much. Then I decided that this was how she could crawl in and out of the box.

I knew I wanted to put pictures of myself and her Dad in the box and I thought I would use our large masking tape to cover it (sort of like laminating, except for the laminate part) and of course I couldn’t find that tape and had to settle for Scotch tape. This, folks, is what happens when you try to get all creative impromptu style. (Shaking my head at myself over here) So of course it took me FOR-EVER to cover the photos with tape. And truly, the only reason that I felt the need to do that is because I knew that otherwise, my child would tear the pics off of the wall.

I drew a tree and found some old scrapbooking love stickers and slapped them on the tree too- why not?
I had some bulletin board cut outs that I wanted to put in there, but again, covering this stuff with tape was taking way too long and I started to get hot and tired. So, I short-changed my kiddo and only put up two shapes. The foot and the star, everything else went back in the garage.

What does she care? She’s got a box that she can crawl in and out of and give her Daddy kisses whenever she likes. She’s a happy kid.
