I think it would depend on the situation. If I didn't notice until I got home, I don't think I would drive back. But in 99.9% of all cases, yes I'd go back.

And "Targhetto" is my favorite freaking store. Mr teases me all the time about it.

Would have done the exact same thing. I always have to remember I'm setting the example for my children. Last year my daughter (who was 12) was checking out at a Tar-ghetto (sorry, but I'm so going to have to use that) and the cashier gave her back $10 too much. My daughter handed the money back to the cashier and told her the error. The lady could. not. believe. that my daughter was being honest. I think that's a very sorry state of our society that she was shocked.

You're a good mom!

I'd like to think I'd do the same as you, particularly since you hadn't left the store. Truthfully, it did happen to me the other week with a smaller purchase. The cashier and I had actually had a conversation about the item and she somehow didn't ring it up. I didn't realize it until I was in the parking lot, had the toddler buckled into his carseat on a bitterly cold day and the engine was running. The previous week I returned an item to the same store, an item that was unopened and was selling from a shelf in the front of the store. They charged me a 20% restocking fee which I thought was utterly outrageous (it's a craft store and it was a storage item). In the end, I reasoned that the item I ended up getting for free was paid for with that restocking fee. I'm not necessarily happy about that decision but I wasn't about to take a 2yr old BACK out of his seat, into the cold, and wait in another 10min line to tell them they forgot to ring up a $10 item. In my own defense, I have pointed out missed items in the past when I'm still in the store.
