That Mom

You ever go out to the grocery store or out to a restaurant to eat and see a mom there with her kids and the kids are putting on a show?

What’s usually your first thought when you see kids acting out when they are in public with their parents?

I think before that mom would have been met with criticism by me and I’d probably shake my head and think “not my kid.”

First of all, yes, my kid. Shit I don’t want to take Cadence anywhere for fear of being kicked out cause she acts so damn crazy. We tried to go to Chili’s on Sunday (I don’t know why) and she was screaming, yelling, trying to get out of her high chair. You get so embarrassed that what do you do? Ya leave, right? Yup. Took her ass right out, didn’t even get to finish my dinner.

But I have also learned through a recent friendship that we don’t know what that mom is going through and so we shouldn’t be so quick to judge. It can be all she can do and the best she can do to just try and shush them and get through the grocery store as quickly as possible without flipping out on her kids and looking like a “bad mom” or a mad person in public.

We don’t know what’s going on at home with her husband/boyfriend/baby’s father- is he present? Is he there, but not really there? Is she worried about getting the groceries, running home to make dinner, clean up house, fold the rest of the laundry and get the kids a bath before her husband gets home?

Does she have no help at all? Is she managing the house, changing the diapers, making the food, feeding/cleaning the pets, being a great socialite when out at her significant other’s business parties, laying down and spreading her legs the right amount of time a week?

She may be tired y’all.

You know that mom. Don’t judge her. Shit, being a parent is hard. Being a mom- harder.

Something else came to mind, on this subject matter. Men think because they go to work, they all act the same as if they are paying child support. Pay the child support and do nothing else, NEVER have to go thru what the mother goes thru growing the child, getting up at nights when they are sick etc. So they go to work, make the money come home and nothing else. Sore subject matter with me, I can just relate

I agree with you 100%. They once did a study, and there is NO SALARY FOR A HOUSEWIFE. Fisrt of all, I don’t know what’s up with men, and it’s not just today’s men either. It goes back in time. Men don’t know what it is the have kids and take care of them house etc. When you have a child that is hyper, it takes a lot out of you. I feel even if the man works, he should come home and help out. I am noticing now they have been doing a lot of inerviews with men who now stay home and take care of the house while the wife goes to work. Now they are finding out that it is not easy. The roles really need to be reversed at some point for the men to find out how much a mother goes thru just staying home and taking care of everything. They just really need to GROW UP. I just thing some men mom just did not do such a great job of teaching them how to be a man and treat a woman.

  • Preach on my sister from another mister! Even if that mom DOES have help? And her situation is “fine”? Maybe she has PPD or maybe she just got laid off or maybe…the list goes on. Maybe? it’s just one of those days when the kids are acting like assholes and you want to lose your mind. We’ve all been there. Just cut a momma some slack.
